What a Great Start!
January always seems to be a busy and fruitful month in the life of the church, but this past month has been amazing. All of our worship gatherings have been a blessing. I have especially enjoyed the fellowship and the discussions on Sunday nights during our times of “Family Worship.” It has been a blessing to gather around tables with our brothers and sisters to reflect on doctrines clearly revealed in the Word, to discuss, and to pray. One of the greatest blessings of the Body of Christ is the manifestation of the Spirit when we gather in one accord. Brother Stephen had a great new members’ class last week. There seems to be others the Lord is bringing into our fellowship. I cannot wait to see them come alongside us in worshipping and serving the Lord. We have seen our Sober Living House get off the ground this past month. God is moving there, but is also using those men to encourage our church. There have been 6:30 Monday men’s gatherings at the house for the past several weeks. Men have been getting together, breaking bread together, and growing in relationship and the Word. I believe this ministry is going to be a catalyst for a movement in our ministry to men across generations. Keep praying for our church. God is moving. He has a plan. There are many sick and hurting in our congregation. Pray for perseverance in our ministry within the church and vision for reaching out.
Summoned, Sanctified, Sent Men’s Retreat
Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, to be with him, to send them out to preach, and to have authority to drive out demons, Mark 3:13-15, CSB. February 3-4 many of our men will be attending the “Summoned, Sanctified, and Sent” men’s retreat out at Camp Harris. Please be in prayer for us as we give this time to the Lord. We are going to reflect on God’s call to salvation, plan for our ongoing sanctification (holiness) and service, and power He gives us through the Spirit to resist temptation and to persevere. Pray for this time and these men. God is moving in our men’s ministry. He wants to raise up faithful men willing to do spiritual battle in prayer, witness, and service.
Who Is God?
The world has invented many answers to that question, but the one true God has answered by giving us His Word. This coming month our catechism will remind us of some of the things God has told us about Himself in His Word. In salvation we repent of sin and call upon Jesus for forgiveness of sin. We are reconciled to God and we are made able to know and relate to God in the Spirit. We do not just know about Him. We know Him. We can have genuine relationship with Him! As we open His word and read/hear, God is speaking to us. He is revealing Himself to us. Let the truths of the scriptures in your family Bible study this month fill you and overwhelm any false notions of God. Have a blessed February!!
